Parts Compatibility - Lotus Elite/Eclat

Warning: The information on this page is provided for your interest only and is in no way a recommendation to fit a non-original part.  Readers must make their own decision about fitting and using parts that have not been sourced new from Lotus Cars.

Like all Lotus cars some parts are shared with cars from other manufacturers.  This page lists the cross references I have discovered.

e-mail Ian at (lotus75@btconnect.com) if you know of others, or disagree with my summaries!

Lights

bulletFront side/indicator - Mini Clubman, Austin Maxi
bulletRear (S1) - Reliant Scimitar SE6, Jensen Healey, Aston Martin V8
bulletRear (S2) - Rover SD1 [2000, 2300, 2600, 3500]  (Note that a unique Lotus fibreglass moulding is required to mount the light unit to the bumper)

Brakes

bulletRear drum assembly - Ford Capri 3000 Mk 1 (Mounted upside down)
bulletFront disc?
bulletFront 2 piston caliper?
bulletFront 3 piston caliper?
bulletServo - similar to Ford Capri, but operating rod from pedal is different although internals likely to be the same

Transmission - Gearbox & Diff

bulletS1 - Internals from Austin Maxi
bulletS2 - Getrag Type 265/5 widely used on early BMW 5 series (Note: ratios, rear housing, mounting bracket, gearshift mounting, speedo drive & bell housing are all unique to Lotus application)
bulletDiff casing and (shortened) tubes - GKN Salisbury axle
bulletCrown wheel & pinion - GKN told me the only known application is a fork lift truck, however the 3:1 CWP used on the Morgan Plus 8 can be installed (perfect for a V8 conversion!) See R - Diff section

Steering I need confirmation on these!

bulletSteering column - Early Range Rover (50% certain) Top bearing is definitely Range Rover
bulletSteering column UJ's & link shaft - early Range Rover (95% certain)
bulletPAS Rack - Ford Granada, first series (100%)
bulletTrack rod ends - Ford? but PAS item is different (stronger) than non-PAS

Suspension

bulletFront upright - Britpart Herald/Vitesse/Spitfire (Note: there are many different variants of this component - be careful!)
bulletFront upper ball joints - standard part from Triumph suppliers
bulletFront Trunnions - standard part from Triumph suppliers
bulletAnti roll bar bushes - Ford (what model?)
bulletRear wheel bearings - Front wheel bearing from Austin Maxi

Engine

bulletAir Filter - Triumph Dolomite
bulletOil filter - A common filter (e.g. Ford Cortina) but must have the non-return valve in the bottom.  Lotus part is recommended because you know it is right.  Looks good too!

Electrical

bulletFusebox - early Ford Escort
bulletSteering column switchgear - Triumph Stag (Lucas)
bulletDashboard switchgear - Triumph Stag (Lucas)

Body

bulletDoor strap assembly - Rover P6 (2000/3500)
bulletSpare wheel frame hook - Austin Maxi
bulletDoor handles - Austin Maxi (Note there are variants which have a different fitting bracket at the rear)
bulletElectric Mirrors (S1) - also used by Aston Martin DBS/V8 of similar vintage
